Nomikai is more than just a company name; it's a testament to the deep bonds of friendship and family that unite our founders. Christine (CEO), Ebru (CTO), and Tom (COO) have been best friends for nine years, having met in San Francisco. Their journey together is a story of collaboration, innovation, and mutual support.

Our Journey

I met AJ when I moved to California in 2010 while working at a startup called Baynote. Tom and I are married; I was the Maid of Honor at Ebru's wedding, and Tom was Ebru's wedding officiant. Ebru and I worked directly together at SKALE Labs for three years, where we built the Solutions Engineering team from the ground up. During our time at SKALE, we launched the SKL crypto token and blockchain network, built the developer and node operator communities, and decided to start a company together.

The Founding Team

Ebru, Tom, and I form a complete founding team: I am a full-stack engineer, Ebru is a big data/back-end engineer, and Tom is focused on sales and go-to-market strategies. Our diverse skill sets and shared vision have been instrumental in shaping Nomikai into the innovative company it is today.

The Meaning Behind Nomikai

The name "Nomikai" holds special significance for us. "Nomi" is derived from Ebru's daughter Noomi, and "Kai" is the middle name of Tom and my daughter Zahara. In Japanese, Nomikai means a celebration among friends, which is very fitting as our first company together is named after our firstborn children and is celebrated.
